The Incredible Gig in Aalst

Even the statue joined the party - decorated with a guitar:-)

The performance in Aalst was out of this world! But let me start at the beginning ...

We reached the hotel the Rubettes were staying at around 5 o'clock that afternoon and .... ran right into the band members of "Chic" who are really nice folks. After drinking some coffee with Alan, followed by the boys giving a radio interview on site, we joined them on the way to the show.

The band's wardrobe was placed in the town hall. To get there, we had to walk through a grand saloon decorated with antique paintings - simply fascinating!

Mick was really enjoying this gig

Before the concert began, we had plenty of opportunity to talk with different musicians and event staff - everybody was in a splendid mood and more than helpful. A big "thank you" to all!

 The show was packed

The Rubettes were in good spirits cracking jokes left and right - and they took this happy mood right on stage with them. The large audience celebrated the guys with rousing applause under beautiful skies. The show was even filmed in its entirety.

Alan gets the gig going ...

Alan signed autographs afterwards and the fans just loved it. One of the camera operators even came over to get herself an autograph.

Backstage, freshly baked rolls with all sorts of cold cuts were served. Alan fancied beer - but none was available. No problem for this great stage crew, before we knew it, the desired beer had arrived. Excellent service:-)

.. and the audience goes wild.

A little later, we accompanied Alan and John back to the hotel where we got to chat some more, before we finally called it a night and drove back home ...

Summarizing this event, we have to praise it as one of the very best we ever attended. Once more, special thanks to the Belfortrock crew!
