Hessentag 2003 in Bad Arolsen

Bad Arolsen is a small town close to Paderborn, this year's location for the "Hessentag". The concert we went to see at the stadium was part of the "Hessentag" festivities. This time, all it took was a phone-call to receive permission to photograph. Many thanks to the organizers!

Racey, the Rubettes and Suzie Quatro performed in this very order. The Rubettes really got the audience going. The show was fantastic. They sang acapella - "Barbara Ann" and then thrilled the audience with their Taiko drumming. Fans were mesmerized, kept cheering, the applause kept coming - even after the drum session was over.

Since the show started while it was still light, the fog machine was used excessively. Consequently, taking pictures at the bottom part of the stage was no easy task. Especially, when you are only permitted to photograph during the first three songs! I ended up grabbing my long lens and started taking pictures right in the middle of the audience;-)
The Rubettes joined the audience later to sign autographs. Got to talk some more with the guys and headed on home later that night. All in all - a great night out, we had lots of fun and I actually learned something about astronomy;-)
