The Concert in Bournemouth

Story and photos by Katrin

Ahoy! ;-)

The Rubettes playing Taiko Drums

I thought I should share my pictures from Bournemouth with you. Unfortunately, it was the only gig of the UK tour I got to see since subsequent concerts were canceled, including the one in High Wycombe. I had already booked the flights, made hotel reservations, etc. ... :-(

Anyway, the show in Bournemouth on March 17, 2005 was definitely great. The gig started at 7:30 PM with Sailor. Though the Pavilion Theatre was only filled to half of its capacity (no surprise there, since the tour seemed to lack promotion and in addition, a similar tour was on the road last year, starring almost the same performers in the same cities and at the same venues!) those who came, really enjoyed themselves and loved the show.

Sailor's performance was quite short but very good - the same can be said for the Rubettes. They played pretty much the same line-up as they did during the Dutch tour, including the beautiful Acapella medley and the fabulous drum session. But I missed my favorite song again, "Ooh La La" (it was only performed once at the first concert in Holland).

After the show, we went to the lounge to meet and greet both bands briefly. Then it was time for The Sweet to take the stage and rock the place. They were really great.

All things considered, it was a fantastic show with lots of fun for all who participated on stage as well as in the audience.
