The Gig in Haelen
The small town of Haelen is located close to Roermond. The Rubettes performed there during the Oktoberfest. Having lost our way at first, we managed to get to Haelen quickly - once we were on track again. The event was actually held in a big tent on the outskirts of Haelen. We went straight to the venue to get an idea of the set-up ... and because there wasn't really enough time left to drive over to the hotel.
We ended up waiting for the guys who arrived around 9:30 that night. There was literally no backstage because of the way the venue was set up. However, two well-guarded containers behind the tent served the purpose of changing for the show. Since the temperature outside was almost sub-zero, we cut our conversation short.
The guys were in good spirits and looked relaxed. Even a few little mishaps couldn't dampen their great mood since the audience was going strong. One drawback of wooden floors and "happy" crowds - it's hard to take pictures standing on a trembling surface ....
After the show, we called it a night pretty quickly and drove on home - it was just getting too chilly. Hope you'll like the shots ...
