Hessentag 2002 in Idstein
As part of the Hessentag festivities (22/6/2002) the Tremeloes, the Rubettes and the Hollies were scheduled to perform in Idstein. What a chaotic day for us! The parking lot was miles away, on a hill site, no shuttle-service available and we had to log all my equipment to the venue.
Security staffers took their job super serious - to say the least! During the Tremeloes' performance I wasn't allowed to take pictures at all. After lots of discussion, they finally agreed to let me photograph during the first three songs of the other bands - however, I had to wait until the bands were actually on stage. By now, everybody who was trying to take pictures was totally stressed out and hardly capable to take any decent photos. If that wasn't enough, the restrictions kept coming left and right: ...Don't stand there ... back up ... not that high ... move over....!@#@! To top it off, we actually were told to stop shooting before the end of the third song! No, let me correct that - during the Hollies' performance we were restricted to two songs - and of course, we had to stop BEFORE the end of the song! It was simply disgusting!
On the bright site - we ended up going to the hotel at the end of the show and had a chance to talk with Mick and Mark. Don't let me forget to say "Hi" to the "Lobby-Crew" - hope you all got home safe and sound.
