We attended the Porsche Oldie Night in Stuttgart.
After having checked into our hotel in Stuttgart in the early afternoon, we got to rest up for the night.
Refreshed after a long shower, we drove over to the Schleyer Hall and our battle against red tape began. To receive permission to take photos we were sent from one end of the building to the other. It took us almost an hour to find the appropriate location where we were supposed to get the permission.
Unfortunately, we did not receive backstage access justified by some corresponding rule of German Band Management. What a shame, after all, we had explicit written permission from the Rubettes to get backstage access.
We got to talk briefly with Alan and John who we met coincidently. Even then, we were asked by staffers to promptly stop our conversation or risk being removed from the venue. We had no choice but to find our seats.
We searched for and found these seats on the second floor. Can't say that we had a great view of the stage but we did get to admire the ceiling construction quite a bit ... I couldn't take any decent pictures from up there even if I blew them up 10 times.
I took my chances when the guys walked on stage to find a better location - but Tina wasn't permitted to come along. Hence, I only got a couple of quick shots.
The guys resurfaced after the performance to give autographs. We talked for a short while and then returned to our hotel. After all, we ended up finding some "comfort" in a delicious dinner.
All in all, we have to say that this trip wasn't worthwhile. Even by German standards we experienced excessive red tape and arbitrariness. For right now, we have lost interest in attending gigs in Germany.
